I will be getting some speer 145 BTSP to play with too. They are better suited to the short neck and "not hang down in the case"'

Thanks for all the replies

I picked up a real beauty of a 284 A bolt. I don't want to get into details on a forum but I am ready to do some loading.

I had bought some brass from Win that I had to send back, it was cut out of square at the neck and took at least 0.010" trim to square them up.

The brass came in at 2.160" crooked and cleaned at 2.150" (0.020" under trim to length. I was not impressed.)

I could see brass coming from factory maybe say 0.005" under trim to length to get say two reloads out of it before having to cut it back again.

I don't really want to spend a fortune on NORMA brass, I'm just looking for some good Winchester Brass.

I finally got around to shooting the new rifle. Some winchester silver box 150's and my speer 145btsp reloads. To my surprise it shot within 1 inch at 30 yards (this is with a scope I installed), which was interesting. I dialed the scope in to hit just a touch low at 30yds. Trajectory is supposed to be zero at 35 is 1.5" high at 100yds and 1.5" low at 200yds. I fired about 9 rounds at 30 yards since I don't have a lot of ammo or brass yet.

After that I drove a target out to 300yds and verified it with a "fit bit" wrist watch that measures steps and converted to yards. I set up the bench and put 3 out of 4 shots of factory loads in the 8 ring (about 6" from bull low and some left) and fired 4 shots of reloads that all hit about 8"-10" low and left. My reloads need more powder.

I was blown away by this! I've never shot over 200yds and I just go and zero this rifle at 30 and proceed to hit a target at 300!! Holy carp. Impressive. This is only a 2.5-8 leupold and a 21" barrel (measured from crown to action) on a browning a bolt of a homemade shooting bench with a Caldwell forearm rest. No rear bag.

I'm very excited. This is fantastic results for me for only having about 17 rounds through a new to me rifle setup.

I moved 2 clicks right on scope which should be 1.5" right at 300 and only 3/16 right at 30. I think that's my best bet.

I'm going to see if someone can send me a sample before I buy them. I don't have any other use for 7mm bullets so if they don't work I'm kinda stuck with them or trying to get rid of them.

This way I can load the speer 145btsp and the Sierra 150sbt and have the 2 bullets to compare accuracy. I'm loading over H4350
