Hornady manual lists this Hornady bullet loaded with 21.8 grains of V-133 for 3000 fps, COL=2.200", but they used a Remington 700 to test this data.

Sierra has their own version of this bullet, loaded with 24.1 grains of V-133 for 3000 fps, COL=2.250", and they tested it with a Colt AR15 HBAR, which is what I'll be shooting it from.

This is a huge variation in powder charge, and the Sierra max load of 24.1 grains is well above Hornady's max load of 22.7 grains...

Is this explained by the difference in test rifles and a slightly longer cartridge length of the Sierra load, or is the Sierra bullet significantly different from the Hornady bullet?

I'd like to use Sierra's data with my Hornady bullets, because I have a bunch of them, but I don't want to get blown up. :)

The Vihtavuori 09 PDF shows 24.5 Grs of N-133 with a Hornady 55 Gr FMJ-BT bullet for 3301 FPS in a 25" barrel.

Thank you, Walkalong! I forgot that I downloaded that guide a few days ago...
