Anyone offering FFL Mag Block Services?

I live in a State which limits the magazine capacity of a firearm to 10 rounds. That really puts a crimp on what we can buy and what online retailers are willing to sell to me. Does anyone know of an outfit that will either take possession of a purchased firearm, modify or swap the factory supplied magazine(s) with a 10-rd magazine(s) and ship it to an FFL of the buyer's choosing or am I resigned to buying firearms online without the factory supplied mags and buying 10-rd mags from elsewhere?

I might be misunderstanding your question, but your receiving FFL should be able to make that swap for you. If your state is like mine (NY), an FFL can have the "offending items" in his business stock but can't personally own or use them and can't transfer them in-state.

It might require some Q&A between the seller and your FFL, but it is legal for them to ship the high-caps to him. He could then swap them out for state-legal items before transferring the firearm to you. Whether he'd want to do that is another question. Unless you have a friendly FFL who's willing to work with you, you might be better off getting the gun without the mags.

It would help if you said which state your in so a FFL could be recommended.

Having said that, if you're in CA, yes there are FFLs that do that sort of thing however, since you'll have to order something that's on the CA approved hand gun roster, there is rarely the need to that because the guns in the list pretty much only come with 10 rounds mags.

I suspect the problem the OP is having, is that some dealers (Bud's for example) won't ship 10+ round mags into a 10-round only state, even to an FFL.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised to have every single dealer I asked tell me "no."

With that said, if you place a special order, some dealers (CZ Custom comes to mind if that's your thing) will substitute 10-round mags for states that require them.
