I was looking to buy one from Bud's Gun Shop because it's cheap and, from reviews, it's reliable. Can anyone who has experience with this handgun tell me some things about it I would need to know?

For the most part, would you recommend the gun to your friends? Or, is there anywhere I can get magazines for less than $40? Any input on the gun is appreciated.

I have had my Thunder 9 for 10 or 15 years now and it has been totally reliable. Mine has the smoothest "out of the box trigger" that I have found. The only drawback for me is the grip is a bit too thick. Would I recommend one to a friend? Yes, definitely. I have been thinking for some time of buying a Thunder 9 UC. Many people say it is the best value for the money, but I say it is a darn fine pistol that happens to have a low price. As to magazines, I suggest you go to www.bersachat.com as they sometimes have group buys.

Here check this out I just posted it http://bersachat.com my board

Bersa Handgun Stress Test

Here's a video that is on the Bersa/Eagle website. The title reads "Bersa 1,000 shots - no jamming" with two rapid firing shooters (both firing right & left handed). A total of 86 (17+1) magazines are used with one Bersa Pro 9 HC. Water is poured on the gun at the 1020th round, 1173rd round and 1428th round. Before the video ends, the total reaches 1445 rounds and still showing the Bersa Pro 9 HC firing with a full magazine...

Wow. Holy-Mother-of-Mercy. If the accuracy isn't bad, I think I'm buying something from Argentina real soon.

Thanks for the responses. They're what I hoped for.

For magazines, I did find some on a site for $27, but it looked like they had been sold out for a long time... Will keep looking though, and maybe share my findings at bersachat.

I just read that Thunder 9's, in competition condition, are winning IPSC matches. Yeah, Argentina it is for me.

Can only speak to my 45 UC in Stainless, but it's been 100% over thousands of rounds with accuracy equal to any of my other weapons. A great winter CCW (I like smaller carry for warmer months).

I'm looking forward to owning one soon. $30 or $40 per magazine isn't too bad, I'll only need to buy two or three extra, and only if I make it my main full-size pistol.

The best pistols on the market for the price hands down...I own a Thunder 40 full size...nothing but reliable and accurate...very good trigger too...

Mags are a bit expensive but they come with a stainless steel follower...not plastic....

The only drawback I can think of is the finish a bit subpar (not the fit...that is very good)

Unfortunately the prices are climbing steadily....more advertising, more word of mouth....I wish they could go back to when they were the unknown gem of the firearm industry......we should start threads bashing them!!! :D:D:p:p

I'm sure Bersa will end up like CZ....from being high quality budget firearms to matching SIG and other top tier manufacturers.

On top of that, Customer Service is nothing short of excellent...yesterday I called to inquiry about their Firestorm 22...I got immediately someone on the phone.....we chit-chat a bit and I told him how happy I was about my Bersa Thunder 40.....then he suddenly ask me for my address because is going to send me a Bersa T-shirt and a Bersa cap!!!!

I have yet to have any kind of malfunction with my UC9 Pro, with all rounds being reloaded and quite a few being JHP. I wouldn't have any issues loading SWC profile bullet for this pistol as I think it will feed just about anything.

I've heard the strange phosphate-ish finish isn't all that durable, but as Saturno V points out, the fit is quite nice. I am now in the market for a full-size .40S&W Bersa Thunder, but they're now more difficult to find than when I bought my UC9 (which I had to purchase off GunBroker as Sog was sold out).

This is easily the most controllable 9mm I have, more so than my full-size 9mm handguns which I have yet to discover why (though I suspect the finger-grooves play a part in this).

At ten yards, I can keep all shots on a sheet of paper despite firing as fast as possible, a 13 round magazine in about 3 seconds for giggles.

At 15 yards, a slower more aimed fire presents some nicer groups. The pistol is capable of far better if in the hands of someone more skilled, I'm sure.
