I am planning on getting another revolver. I have a Model 60 Pro and a Model 19. I've owned GP 100's and an SP101. I think I want a 4" .357 and I have been looking at the 686 SSR. It looks a lot like a bigger version of my 60 Pro which would be great. I love my 60 Pro and I would be happy with a full size revolver that feels as good in my hand, has as good of a trigger, and can drive tacks.

I can't find a 686 SSR in stock anywhere in my area so I have some questions and I would love to hear from people that own both the 686 SSR and the 60 Pro. Are the ergonomics of the SSR and 60 Pro as similar as they appear to be in the pictures? How do the triggers compare? What is your overall opinion of your SSR?

I bought one a couple of years ago. I really like looks. The quick change front sight is great. I have a couple of options between fiber optic and a gold bead and I use them both. I did not care for the factory grips and bought these on "the Bay" shipped to me from Thailand for about $35.
My gunsmith looked at it and deemed he could not really improve the trigger. He felt S&W had done a good job on my patricular gun. Overall I am pleased with it. By the way, I have absolutely no problems regarding locks on my S&W's. I could care less if it is on the gun.

Consider the 627 Pro - SKU #178014 - it should be about the same price as the 686 SSR and it carries 8 rounds. Just a thought... mine has been a 'keeper' for the nearly three years I've owned it. Actually, I chose it over the 686 SSR!

I added the JM grips and HiViz front sight (No tools required!). It comes moonclip-ready - and the '5starfirearms.com' speedloaders & baseplate are affordable and work great.

I thought the 627 Pro was a 5 inch barrel. I might consider it since this gun is not for concealed carry but I have always liked the feel of 3 and 4 inch revolvers.
