Bought one of these when they first came out for what I consider a super deal.

Haven't fired it...been sitting in it's resident box.

Anyone else buy one? How do you like it?

Haven't seen much discussion about this pistol...just wondering how the crowd feels about it??

I had one, and it's 9mm little brother. Bought them both right after they came out. I found the .40cal to be the most pleasant .40cal I've ever shot. The rotating bolt design somehow lessens the felt recoil and the gun is a pleasure to shoot. Mine was 100% reliable and very, very, accurate. I got rid of mine because at the time there were no holsters or aftermarket support for them and no one could say whether or not older Beretta mags would work in them. Now I wish I'd kept them, they were great guns. My local BassPro still carries them for $419

I have both the 9mm & 40S&W Cougar's. These are worked out quite often with no problems. (About 2000 rounds each so far.) Neither pistols have ever had factory ammo through them as I cast and reload all my own ammo.

I consider these pistols to be quality & low cost sleepers the same way that the CZ75 used to be. My experience with the 9mm Cougar is that it is the equivalent to my CZ P01. Both point and shoot the same.

As for .40cal magazines, I spent about 5 minutes each modifying Beretta 96 magazines to work in the .40cal Cougar. The mag retainer slot is higher up than the Beretta slot - all other dimensions are identical. I was lucky to get surplus mags at $10 each!

i have a beretta cougar,it is one of my favorites. the last time i shot mine a friend brought his 9mm m9a1,recoil between the two felt the same to me.

I own a Stoeger Cougar in .40 cal. It might be the only gun I own I don't like. Very reliable, very accurate. The recoil is reduced but the Springfield XDm .40 has a lighter recoil. The trigger on the Cougar is a bit off for me. For some reason I can't help but jerk the trigger a bit due to the way the slack is picked up. I have considered getting a trigger job done, but am on the fence about selling it. If you are thinking of dumping it to finance a new gun purchase I would absolutely recommend it for a S&W M&P or a Springfield XDm.
