I bought a T/C Encore single shot rifle in .45-70 last year, and also purchased a spare barrel in .357 Remington Maximum after gaining the opportunity to deer hunt in Indiana. This is a new case loading opportunity for me, having loaded for several 357 Magnum handguns. I have bullet weights on hand I think are suitable (Hornady 158 and 180 gr XTP, 180 SSP, Remington 180 gr SJHP).
Powders on hand currently are 2400, H110 and AA 1680.
Any experience with this are appreciated.

My experience is T. Contender 10" using Re-7 with the 180gr SSP, I believe around 22 or 23 gr. gave me just under 1500fps, IIRC. I've considered trying other powders in it, but too many projects, but it's on the list. I've thought about the 200gr FTX that I have for the 35 Rem in a Marlin. All the powders that you listed will work well, just use a magnum primer with H110.
It's really a good cartridge, and I did take a deer with it a few years ago.

Here's a link to a bunch of pistol loads for reference.

NCsmitty, thanks for putting up that data link. That looks to have some good reference material. Here's another link I've looked through for some other 357 Max loads, in case you haven't seen it:

I'm hoping to work up a few loads and take to the range this week. Likely I'll start with the Hornady XTP and SSP and see how they do. I have plenty of the Remington 180 gr SJHPs to try also.
