Anyone?

Or have shot?

Complete gun or top add-on?

Accuracy? Compared to other 22's you have shot?

I don't have a CZ conversion but I do have a 1911 conversion and can tell you that generally what people appreciate most about 22 conversion kits for full size pistols is not for cost or accuracy necessarily. Rather, it allows you to cheaply practice with the same trigger and manual of arms that you would normally carry for defensive purposes.

I'm not discounting the fun of shooting conversions, I'm just saying that you can find more accuracy in a dedicated 22 platform if that's what you're after.

I have it on my sp01. I love it. It shoots as accurate (If not more so) then the 9mm upper. It has been 100% with all sorts of ammo, I tend to shoot the 525/550 packs of federal ammo. Mine shot way high from the factory, and I was sent a taller front sight free of charge and that corrected the problem (I couldn't adjust the rear sight enough).

The only thing I don't like is the fact the brass really gets thrown, and somehow it always manages to be thrown off something and lands right between my shooting glasses and my face.

Viking,

I have the Kadet Kit it fits all three of my CZs: 75, 75bd and P01. Mine has been very accurate and reliable. It goes on every range trip.

best regards,

Luis Leon

I have two kadets, both mounted on 75Bs. They are as accurate as my pure 22's. Never heard of anyone who was not impressed with the kadet conversion.

I like the conversion kit but have had a problem that has repeated a couple of times. I'm not sure I can explain this well, but I'll try. The firing pin has a flattened area at six o'clock that is meant to register with the retainer. On more than one occassion, the firing pin has travelled past the edge of the retainer and twisted so as not being able to return to it's normal position. To fix it, I had to pull the retainer, put the firing pin in the right position and reinsert the retainer. Not real hard to do but it is a pain in the can. Always good to keep a small tool kit in the range bag.

I bought my Kadet with the 75BD back in 02. Tens of thousands of rounds. It sits on the BD all the time, and only get changed out for the 9mm on rare occasions. I have a few other 9mms.

Mine shoots about as accurate as my 6" Ruger Mk II.

I got a Kadet Kit from ManOfSteele (a CZ dealer) here on the forums. It's a great investment, which gets even better as your stable of CZ pistols grows. I have several CZ's ... 2 P01's (his and hers), two SP01's (one is Tactical), and a CZ-75b. The Kadet works great on all of them.

I store the slide in what once was the carrying case for a detachable-face car stereo. The slide in the plastic case and two magazines are in a zippered cash bag in my range bag. The Kadet Kit actually comes in a box and case just like any other CZ pistol, but it's a bit too bulky for range trips.

Anyone considering a Kadet pistol from CZ should really instead pick up a centerfire of their choice and the Kadet kit. CZ does NOT sell slides separately, so you can't convert a Kadet pistol to a 9mm without trying to find a used 9mm slide. Note there are two "Kadet" products, a Kadet pistol and a Kadet kit.

CZF: Those are some neat grips... I see the CZ logo. Is/was that a CZ product, maybe for the pre-B (which it appears you have pictured)?

My Kadet was good for 1.5" 10 shot groups at 25 yards. I did two group like that back to back. That's with Iron Sights. Never bothered to shoot groups again as I think the point was proven. Now I just shoot at shotgun shells. You can hit them at 25 yards (not every shot :) ). Golf balls too.

I had a Ruger MkII that was good for 1" with optics. The difference I attribute to the optics.

My Kadet is wonderfully accurate. I was quite amazed.

EDIT: Notice that I said 10 shot groups. That's actually a big deal. None of this three shot groups that people shoot.

The one I handled shot well when it worked. There were frequent jams and failure to fires. But, that could have been due to something the owner did. I am not sure how well it was maintained and the round count.

MY 75 with Kadet rides well in the zippered pockets of my CZ
ISPC range bag.

I had a Kadet that I mounted on a CZ75 SubCompact, and I enjoyed it. It was very accurate and reliable.

However, I sold it when I realized that the kit was worth as much as the cost of a NIB Buckmark, and that if I sold it and used a dedicated 22Lr pistol that I could have my 9mm back in action.

There are two known issues with the Kadet with fixes.

A)Failure to ignite rounds is well known. This is mostly due to the firing pin. Some people have noted success reshaping the tip. Mine has the occasional failure to fire with the bulk pack garbage. I think it's mostly the ammo, as I have the same problem with pretty much all my 22 pistols

B) Failure to feeds are very rare with the Kadet. I'll assume you mean ejection issues when you say "jams". This is also very common and easily correctable. Tweaking the ejector slightly and or reshaping slightly usually fixes this.

For details check out one of the CZ specific message boards. There are usually stickies at the top with detailed instructions.

I managed to pick up a Kadet ~4 years ago. They had the whole pistols on clearance for $289 (not just the kit).

EDIT: I also add that the firing pin channel is susceptible to debris clogging. That will cause failure to fires as well.

rbernie,

Whick do you like better, the kadet or buckmark? I have 2 9mm CZ's, so that one can always stay in "action".

I prefer the Buckmark for shooting 22lr, because it has aftermarket support (lightweight barrels, threaded barrels, sight mounts, etc.) that the Kadet will never have.

I have a conversion and have never had a problem. My only complaint is that magazines are expensive.

A quick question

How to disassemble kadet magazine? I tried to do that according to the manual: insert a rod into the whole at the bottom of the plastic magazine base, press it while at the same time try to slide the base towards rear. But the base just would not budge. Did I miss something? Is there any tricks? Thanks.

I am trying to decide between the kadet (got two frames it would work on) and a buckmark. Sportsmans Warehouse has one in stock that has a different style barrel on it, sort of like the barrel on the contour, but with a fiberoptic front sight. Both will be the same money.

I shoot mine more than any other gun. It goes on my CZ75B frame with a comp trigger, 15 pound mainspring, and a bit of polishing. It's beautifully accurate.

I had the same problem. I ended up putting the platic end cap on the edge of a table, and pressing to the point I thought it was going to break. Presto, it came off. For some reason mine were insanely hard to get off as well. The other mags (CZ 97b and SP01) I have were pie. Man did my mags need it though, after 1,500 rounds there was enough crap in them that I couldn't believe they still worked.
