I wear an ankle holster with a Ruger SP101 .357 for about 12 hours a day and it is just too heavy. It keeps sliding down, and tightening it too tight is starting to mess up my knee, or maybe the weight of it is causing the problem. I had a kel-tek .380, too much recoil, got rid of it. I am thinking about the Kahr KP45 but it is a light gun (around 20oz) and I am afraid of having the same result as the Kel-tek.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you do a search, there have been a couple of range reports about this gun. There's also the Taurus PT145 and PT745, which appear to be good performers at half the price of the Kahr.

Can you tell me how to do a search for these range reports?

Do you like the Tarus?

I'm interested too. I searched here and found some comments on the gun and Kahrs in general, but not a thread where someone really shot one.

Thanks Road. That was an interesting read. I just applied for my CCW so am looking to buy something to carry. I think the Kahr is my #1 candidate now.

I examined one yesterday at a gun shop. It looked and felt great, but the magazine wouldn't seat without a TON of effort. Just as bad, with the empty mag in place and the slide locked back, using the slide stop to release the slide was impossible. I had to drop the mag to be able to close the slide. Has anybody else seen this issue?

dsk, all 3 of the Kahrs I've shot did the same thing with the slide stop, very hard to release with an empty mag in place... but... Why would you ever want to? I just really don't see that as a problem... just curious, maybe I'm missing something.

Supposed to be like that by design. So the user is less likely to slam the slide into battery on an empty chamber. I called Kahr and that's what they told me.

I'm a pretty avid Kahr collector, and shot one of these while considering buying it. While I'll probably buy it, I don't plan on ever carrying it. Recoil-wise, it's a handful. I was able to manage it for some decent groupings, but it took a while. For me, it's a little on the big/heavy (fully loaded) side for realistic ankle-carry, which seems to be your prefered method. However, if you choose to go either belt, pocket, or IWB carry, and aren't overly recoil sensitive, by all means consider it as a viable option. I would avoid +P loads, though. But that's just me.
