any experiences, opinons greatly appreciated. they are close to my duty station and thought about trying them out. i was kinda turned off by the fact that you have to have the nra first steps or equal to it. to attend there courses. i sent an e-mail to tiger and hopefully the past traning that i have done will qualify me, the problem is that it is hard to get time off of work to go to these places, and if i had to spend 2 days doing nra first steps pistol and rifle, well then i am 2 days in the hole right there.

any thoughts?

I took Defensive Pistol there and thought it was a good class. I didn't have NRA first steps, but was an Army veteran with firearms training and civilian practice with small arms. There was no problem with him waiving that requirement. The purpose of that is to not slow the class down with people who have never handled a firearm before.

I have never trained there, but Tiger Mckee is well respected as an instructor and has a great reputation. I'd not hesitate to say its worthwhile to spend time training under Shootrite.

Our own (and Glock Talk's and S&W Forum's - he's kind of fickle :D ) "pangris" has a couple of excellent reviews of classes at Shootrite.

Two points:

1. Tiger was one of my instructors at Thunder Ranch for a couple of classes - he's absolutely top-notch.

2. Pangris writes VERY good reviews and synopses of classes. He is MOST serious about his training. He was my partner in a class at TR and I found him to be a thoroughly enjoyable and unusually competent individual.

Read the last piece in the Reviews section, Almost Mugged. Pangris has put into practice the things that he's learned.

thanks for all the replys they are greatly appreciated.

mr. pincus i will be comming your way one day as well.

You can not go wrong with Shootrite. I have been there several times now, and I firmly believe that Tiger is one of the best instructors in the country. He is certainly the best value, hands down.

If you can take a two or three day tutorial - that is really an eye opening experience.
