I couldn't find little bottles of Hoppes #9 for some kits I'm making but I did find little aerosol containers of it and ordered a few.

Anyone tried these?

I'm a little worried about the fumes. Hoppes #9 is supposed to be really bad for you, but I usually limit that by opening doors and turning on a fan. I wonder if the aerosol was a bad idea for that reason. (More in the air.)

Also, FUNCTIONALLY, is it any easier or harder to use than dipping a patch in a bottle?

I've got a little can that I've been using. It came with a cleaning kit I got. Seems to actually smell a little less strongly than the bottles since you only use as much as you need. Somewhat inconsistent though, sometimes spray sometimes a stream.

I like it. I'm on my second can, and it seems to be doing a decent job on my 870, which collects more gunk on the range than I could believe.

The smell isn't horrible, and the fumes haven't been bothering me too much, but I try to ventilate when I clean anything.

Try it out, some like it, some don't.
