I've seen Hotshot ammo for sale every now and then. Its advertised as non corrosive, but since its Romanian, I have reservations. Has anyone tried the stuff? Grouping isn't my main concern, just gunworthiness. Also, is there any way to physically inspect ammo to see if its corrosive before shooting it? Thanks.

Not all Hotshot is Romanian. A lot of it is Serbian made by Privi Partizan. None of it is corrosive as it's all new production.

I've used it. My SKS functions ok with it but it's not too accurate. I much prefer Wolf, Golden Tiger, or Brown/Silver bear. Your results may vary.

I tried some and got a pierced primer on one round. It's the only time that ever happened to me, but it made me nervous. That was in a Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55. The rest was probably fine, but I wasn't risking my Swede.

I've tried another caliber, .223 I think, and it was just ammo. Could have been in a white box with AMMO on the side. Not accurate, but shot okay. I'd grab pistol calibers for practice rounds if it was cheap enough.

I've used it and have a nice little pile of it but...it's the dirtiest, nastiest stuff I've ever shot, worse than Wolf and not terribly accurate.
For my guns, Barnaul and Golden Tiger are best, Brown Bear, Wolf, then lastly HotShot.

I bought a few boxes in 8mm. Shot 1/2 a box and gave the rest away.
On the same level as wolf ammo. Since then I learned to relaod so now I can load great rounds and cheaper than hotshot or wolf.

Learn to reload.

Ok then. The consensus is its alright ammo. King of Blued, do you use a .30 cal suppressor for your Nagant revolver, or is there some special one specifically for those?
