Anyone ever use on of those bore reducers that make it possible to shoot say a .410 in a 20 ga gun? I have a 10 year old girl I want to show how to shoot a shotgun without scaring the heck out of her the first time or two. I haven't found reduced recoil 20 ga loads like I see in 12 ga. I was thinking about putting one of those bore reducers in a 20ga model 24 Savage to help reduce the pow for the first lesson or two. Any experiences with this out there?

I want to get a couple of liners that'll use a 45-70 out of 12GA--then get me a double barrel SxS and have me a cheap express double.

No personal experience yet though.

I have Gauge Mate adaptors for .410s in 20 gauges.

My son and I shot up every .410 shell I had with us (and almost every .410 I owned) one afternoon. It was like eating salted peanuts, hard to stop after you start.

Recoil in my six-pound OU 20 gauge felt like a .22 and hand thrown clays broke well--if we shot well.

We also used them in an Ithaca Super Single. They were a bit harder to remove from the Ithaca but it wasn't a real problem.

Gauge Mate advertises in Shotgun News. Or you could find their website by using a search engine.
