Anyone use a Lyman T-Mag?

The T-Mag or the Redding T-7...

I've used the T-Mag II for more than 4 years now, I like it, have had no troubles with it and it produces great shooting ammo.
However if I was in the market for a new turret press I'd sure have to look very closely at the Redding T-7. The Redding has a "Lifetime Warranty" where as Lyman only offers 1 year.

All that said the Lyman is built like the proverbial brick outhouse and I've not had anything fail in the thousands of rounds I've produced over the years and I'm willing to bet it'll out last me!

The Lyman is less expensive as are the additional Die-plates. All the major reloading supply houses carry both presses.

In my opinion either press would be a fine choice. But, I think that 7th place on the Redding sure could come in handy with the 4 die sets and or for mounting a powder thrower and still have 2 three die sets mounted, or 3 two die sets.

The Redding T-7 is built like a granite garage!

Happy T-day...

I used a T-Mag for longer than I used any of my other presses, nearly twenty years. I reloaded every pistol and rifle caliber I have on it. If you're looking at not churning out an ammo dump's supply of cartriges every week, the turret is a great press, and the Lyman is rock solid. The only thing I ever had break on mine was the primer seating arm. It's a cast arm and it broke twice on me. If you buy the press, I would recommend ordering an extra arm or two just to keep in reserve. Don't let this minor thing keep you from buying the press if you want it. This was two breaks out of countless thousands of rounds.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I'm buying the press, used, for a decent price.

Chances are I'm not going to be using the primer set up as for some reason I really like priming my cases with my Lee PrimeAll while watching TV. Probably the reason, though, why my one thumb is shot.

I don't think I'll ever use the full 6 stations, unless I set up one side for .357 Mag and the other for .41 Mag, or something similar.

Don't need really high output, either, so this should really suit my reloading style.

I wasn't really looking forward to spending several hundred for a Dillon or Hornady.

I may do things differnet than some of the others but I use 5 stations on my T-mag press. It goes like this: resizer, flare, seat bullet, taper crimp, and Redding profile crimp. This way no matter the bullets I am using everything is right there. The taper crimp is for my .45 Colt's when loading ACP bullets.

I am on my second T mag press,a T mag 11.. The original T mag broke the bolt holding the turret head on the body after,I have no idea, many thousands or reloads.. Haven't really tried to fix it as it was easier to get new model quicker.. Will try this winter as a new bolt is available.. Found out that the bolt in old model was locktited in,hope I can get the thing out..
Could send it to Lyman for a fix but won't..Don't have room for two presses to be set up at same time anyway..Oh well..
You will like the press very much and will make some great ammo on it..
