I just bought a couple and don't know whether to install them. On the Rifles board, some thought buffers could interfere with the cycling of the gun. To make matters worse, how's this for instructions?

4) Place the S&W Recoil Buffer against the inside of the dust cover/slide. Buffer will mate with contours of the slide.

Yeah, right. That's what happens when instructions are translated from Chinese. Anyway, how long do these buffers generally last and do they interfere at all with the cycling of your guns?

Thanks.

If its the former, don't bother either -unless they came with the gun. If your gun ran fine before, you'll only bugger it up.

If you own a gun that comes with shok buffs, like certain Semi-Customs made with polymer or aluminum frames, they may need them to dampen the recoil.

As for how often to change, my Wilson CZ45 manual says to change them every 1000 rounds fired.

Buffers like recooperators belong in artilery peices and are part of the design, not handguns.
