I'm thinking of adding another measure to my bench for the sole purpose of throwing light charges of Trail Boss (probably between 2 and 4 grains). I have heard mixed reviews of the Lee measure, mostly complaints seem to be leaks, which doesn't seem likely with a fluffy, bulky powder like Trail Boss. I don't want to break the bank, but I'd like a dedicated Trail Boss measure.

Anyone have any experience?

Thanks!

I have one in a drawer somewhere and I also use trail boss powder. I have, however, never used that powder in it.

If no one can answer this for you I will try to dig it out and run some TB through it for you to see how it goes.

On the whole I didn't find it to leak with 2400 and H335, which were the only two powders I ran through it. I bought a Chargemaster and the Lee was retired to the "spare junk" drawer. I was going to bolt it to my kitchen counter to dispense sugar into my coffee but I haven't gotten around to it.

I don't have a Perfect Powder Measure any more, but Trail Boss works well in my Pro Auto-Disk. A little leakage occasionally, but not very much at all. Drops are very consistent (plus or minus .1 gr).

It works well in my Pro Auto Disk also, I was hoping the results would be the same with the PPM. Its only $20 (plus shipping), but I don't want to order it without some input.

Thanks.

It seems to work well in my 'perfect' powder measure and no you will not have to worry about it leaking powder. Now if you are using H110 that is another matter.

I have no actual experience with Trail Boss but have alot of experience with the Lee Perfect Powder Measure.
I own Lyman 55, Hornady Lock & Load Measure, and Lee PPM, plus a few others. The Lee is the most accurate of all and the easiest to use with certain powders. The secret to using the Lee PPM is to break it in by cycling a couple of lbs of powder thru it, then adjusting the tapered drum so as to get NO leakage.
Just now I ran a hopper full of Accurate 1680 powder, which is a extremely small spherical powder and had NO, ZIP, NADA leakage. The Lee measure should work well with T/B powder, as I have yet to find a powder that doesn't work well.

Remember break it in. And to those that say why should I have to break it in? REmember you have/should break in your new car/truck before using Syn. oil. Break in is just a normal thing to do with many products.

trail boss and lee perfect measure

i have the lee perfect measure and have used TB in it with no problems. My measure does not really leak, but TB is so large , I dont see that being an issue. I love the Lee stuff, works well if you learn how to use it.
