I came across this steel cased, clean ammo on stripper clips and it looks really nice. I'm considering buying some from AIM for my 24/47 that I should have next week.

Has anyone used this ammo? Is it corrosive at all?

I'm still very new to Mausers, so if it's not the best in the world but still reliable then I'm happy.

thanks

I have shot LOTS for romanian 8mm. I used to pick it up for $35/tin 2 years ago...but alas those days are gone. I'm down to my last 2 tins of the stuff, but luckly I still have LOTS of 1950's yugo 8mm. Romanian ammo in general (based upon my experience with 8mm, 7.62x25 and 7.62x54) is VERY dirty stuff. You would almost think it was black powder because its that bad. On the plus side my 1937 S code mauser is very accurate with it!

I assume ALL mil surplus ammo is corrosive and liberally spray the barrel/chamber/bolt and mag with windex prior to leaving the range. I then clean as usual. My 2 norinco sks' and norinco mak 90 have eaten LOTS of chinese mil surplus 7.62 ammo in the last 15 or so years, with no ill effects!

Thanks for the reply.

Would you recommend going for the Yugo brass cased ammo that is floating around in that case?

Would the above method be perfectly fine for cleaning after corrosive use? Or should I use a special cleaning solution?

Thanks!

The stuff from AIM is really good,I'm going to get more. It's late 70's as opposed to the last lot, that was 1950's What a world of difference! It's pretty comparable to Wolf ammo.Still corrosive primers [no matter what they say] but a lot cleaner burning.

Cool...maybe I will grab some of each and see which I like better.

Thanks!

Ah woops, read that it is steel core which means I cannot use it at my range.

Yugo it is.
