Anyone use the shield 9mm barrel in the 40

I have read several reviews on 9mm conversions with no problems, with and without the 9mm mags. I decided to invest a big $60 dollars and try it. They are back ordered 2 months. Will let you know how it functions.

Are you ordering a factory 9mm barrel?

I'm not aware of any gun that can do that. They do make conversion barrels, but they're aftermarket and the outer dimensions are the same as the 40 barrel.

I have read and seen the stock 9mm barrell, is the exact same dimmensions and has been done buy dozens if not more by now,"that's why they are out of barrels", and no problems have been cited as of yet. It's a $60 dollar part, and another 30 for a mag, "if you choose to use the 9 mag", I watched utube video of guys swapping out the barrel from the 40 and firing off several mags like the glock lone wolf conversion.
But a guy "miked it all up on utube, and there were a few thousanndths difference on the lugs which made no difference, it's worth the 60 bucks to try it.

Why would you want to do this (not meant to inflame)? Just for the flexibility in case you can only get one caliber of ammo? I'd be interested to know if there are any feeding problems with using the 40 magazine with 9mm. The last thing I need are identical fitting magazines that are caliber specific.

9mm rounds in a .40S&W magazine generally sit a bit higher because of the slightly wider feed lips and smaller diameter case. The follower also has a influence in how they stack in the magazine. Net result is 9mm rounds in a .40S&W magazine for the gun may or may not feed reliably in a 9mm conversion. Nice bonus if they do, but in any case I'd confine the 9mm conversion to range fun and cheaper trigger time only.

The breech face, extractor and ejector would seem to be bigger issues, but generally aren't in a .40S&W to 9mm conversion.

Well I ordered the Barrel for 60 bucks, they are 2 months backed up. and a lot more guys are doing it. It's just to have the ability to fire 9mm out of it. I did it to my glock 23 and it was a great idea.
You never know, I may save some money on practice rounds, and if 40's become scarce, "like now" I have another 9mm. single stack. The others are double stack. I will see how it fires with the 40 mag, if it has feeding problems the mags are cheap enough. I will just pick up a couple. As long as it's reliable otherwise, or I will just sell the barrel.
The Storm Lake people may be coming out with a conversion, but won't take an order yet, "lone wolf" told me to call em". So it seems like this is getting popular, as a conversion.
I like the size of the gun, and if I can get off cheap it's worth it for a few bucks.

I've got conversion barrels from Storm Lake and Lone Wolf for a couple of Glocks. For what it's worth, the Lone Wolf barrels seem to be a little more accurate on my guns.
