I'm going to start reloading for my AK. With the cost of 7.62x39 brass as high as it is, I'd like to easily recover every case that I fire. I've been thinking about buying this hard brass catcher from E&L Manufacturing:

Does anyone have any experience with it? Any experience with a similar product? Does it interfere with the functioning or use of the rifle in any way?

I definitely want something that attaches to the rifle, rather than one of hte free standing nets. I plan to shoot pins with the AK, and I'm sure the RO won't want me setting up a huge net everytime I go to the line (nor do I want to be "that guy" during the match). I also don't want to lose any brass, whcih I know will happen during a match without something attached to the gun.

I have one for the HK G3. It catches the cases just fine, but the problem seems to be that some of them hit the inside of this hard plastic box and bounce back into the action before it has a chance to close, thus inducing a jam. Then you gotta take the box off, clear the jam, (might as well empty the box at that point), re charge the weapon, reinstall the box, and get maybe 5 or so shots out before you gotta do it again.

I haven't messed with the thing here much lately, but I think perhaps if the bottom of the box were dremeled off, and the shells were allowed to deflect out of the action and land on the round at your feet, it might be more useful.

That's my experience, your may differ.

Hope this Helps.
