I recently acquired one of these scales for x-mas and I was never really impressed with it. I noticed that i wasn't getting consistent readings from a known weight, and somehow it was reporting that weight was getting heavier gaining a few tenths of a grain every time i weighed it. But then it started being consistent and I thought this was ok. Then all of the sudden, my know weight was 5 full grains heavier. I changed the batteries and re-calibrated the scale and that didnt help.

I have a very accurate and high quality Ohaus scale, but its only accurate to .24 of a grain. I got the MTM one because that was supposed to be accurate to .1 grain. My question is, should I exchange this MTM scale for another one that's hopefully not broken? Or should i not even waste my time with such a cheap scale? Or do you think my Ohaus is good enough at .24 grains?

The electronic scales can be a major headach. They need a little warm up time time before they will be consistant (the three that I have). Two are the cheapo frankford arsonal and the other came with my hornady lnl pess kit. I have noticed that the air condition vent will make it misread. I have not had very much luck trickeling a charge with them either. A good trustworthy scale is one of the most important peices of equipment on the bench. If you have lost faith in it then dont use it get another. .24gn accuracy is alot if you are loading max to near max charges.

Yet i have one and haven't had any problems with it. It has been right on the money with my Lee Safety Scale. Only issue I've had is trickling the last 1/10's of a grain in before it shuts off. I did read that some had problems until they changed the batteries that came with it. If it's not holding good weights you may want to try that. It is sensitive to air movement. I have to hold my breath when using it. :D

I've have no complaints using an MTM DS-1250. I am shooting low-mid range loads only.

Yeah, i already replaced the batteries - no luck there. I guess i have a bad one. I'm just going to return this one. I was thinking about getting this Jennings scale, it looks like a winner and has quite a bit more features than the MTM scale. Its also a bit more expensive but still under $100.
