I'm looking for a ring/base combo to mount my first high dollar scope. I'm looking for long range precision. Caliber is 7mm RM.

Spuhr seems to be the best, but I also hear you don't need a $410 for a solid, reliable mount.

Badger seems to have a good reputation, but for what the base+rings costs, I may as well get a Spuhr.

I also heard good things about Seekins, and $200 for a base/mount combo seems very reasonable... if they'll hold everything together from shot to shot.

Any drawbacks to using aluminum? Will the Seekins take care of me? What is the benefit of the more expensive stuff?

no, they're fine. glen is a good dude. good shooter

Seekins stuff is excellent and Glen Seekins is very well respected in the long range community.

I personally use Spuhr as I like the fact they are practically bullet proof and I like the built in level. I know of someone falling and striking their Spuhr and scope right on some rocks then continuing to finish the match, after stitches, with no shift in zero. A Spuhr will be more rugged than standard rings but you also get an increase in weight too. You can't really go wrong either way.
