Hey fellas

I own a Kel-Tec PLR-16, .223 pisol which accepts AR-15 type magazines. It has a front handguard with a lower rail for light, laser etc. My question is, would putting a foregrip on this make it an AOW? I'm not really sure about the specifics of any of the AOW stuff, my lady wanted me to take the vertical foregrip off the SIG and put it on there, a preferance thing (she often hip fires, some of our weapons got more weight to them). I had no idea this may be an issue until reading another thread in this section about an LAR-15, and got me curious if it applied to my situation. Wouldn't want to find myself in a mess for doing something we didn't realize was a problem.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Thanks guys, I didn't even realize it would be a problem. Lucky that I stumbled accross this, would have made for a bad day at the range.

That said, the paperwork for an AOW is the same (as far as I know) as it is for any other NFA transfer, and the fee is only $5, so it might be worth looking into if ya'll like that particular configuration.

Certainly easier to consider since the stamp is so cheap.

Since the MAKING tax (which would have to be paid in this instance) is $200 for an AOW or an ABR, I'd go SBR if anything. In fact, I am. I'm waiting for the Form 1 to come back so I can have a folding stock PLR-16 like the PLR16-D.

PTK is correct. If you were transferring it to yourself with the grip already installed, it would be five bucks, but to install it yourself would entail the $200 stamp.
