At least that’s the conclusion I have reached based on the ads they are serving me.

I’ve only been on Facebook for a few months and I only joined because a group I’m working with uses it as their primary means of communication. I figured since I was there I might as well joint a couple of shooting and reloading groups. Apparently the algorithm thinks that means I want to order a bunch of illegal stuff from China. I’ve gotten used to the occasional ad for “fuel filters” that resemble monocore silencers and are conveniently threaded in your choice of 1/2-28 or 5/8-24 but today they really turned up the dial because in a half hour of browsing I’ve seen at least 10 different ads from several different sources offering AR lightning links. They weren’t identified as such, but that’s what they are. And the number of silencer ads has ramped up as well.

Wonder how Zuck would feel if he knew his precious company was serving up ads for illegal silencers and machine gun parts? My guess is that he feels just fine as long as the $$$ keeps coming. The blatant hypocrisy of allowing these clearly bogus ads but prohibiting legal firearms transactions is just staggering. But not surprising.

I'm not a fan of Facebook. My Wife practically lives on it and it's got its good points, I guess. She has gotten reacquainted with some old friends, some of which I have enjoyed getting to know. But I don't like their politics or policies. It seems like they are not on "Our" side!

It's just a thing, a device, a tool.
An abused tool, and to transparent political ends. But, so is the local nightly news.

@Elkins45 you may need to start getting in the habit of stabbing those three dots at the top right of ads. Then click on the Hide Ads, link. It's your route to steer the algorithm. Do this often enough, and the way it swerves stuff will change.
I'm relentless on them, too. I use the Report Problems link repeatedly, too. I had to jump into this stuff when I was dragooned into Information Warfare twenty years ago, and survived MySpace, f/b, and now, MeWe.

Well......

In a capitalistic market, I have found Facebook great for business. Lower priced advertising then usual and a great way to reach out to potential customers. Granted this all I use it for.....and marketplace. I could care less about all the “look what my kid did” and “look at me, look at me” stuff.

I’m in it for the money and business is good.

I gave up Facebook when I quit hand making ukuleles and selling them there. Too much political banter. A few years later, a son of my cousin died and I didn't learn about for some time. Shame on me for not being in closer contact. I have since rejoined hoping to stay in touch with family other than reunions.

Elkins, I'd consider sending a letter to ATF about all these illegal advertisements with screen shots (with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back explaining everything). And I'd send a copy of the letter to Facebook, with notification on the letter.

Personally, I can't stand the odor of leftism, so I don't deal with it.

Fuel filters and bits of metal with a picture of a lighting link drawn on it aren't illegal.

This isn’t a bit of metal with a picture of a lightning link drawn on it. I’m not volunteering to be arrested with one of these in my pocket. I would post a screenshot but I don’t want to give their web address any free publicity.

There's little chance he or his other principals do NOT know as well as cooperate with the information. I doubt it's even about the money rather than the agenda being advanced.

Now, if it's a killer with the agenda of a fellow-traveller.... well then, he's all about *privacy*, *individual Liberty* and other clap-trap when the LE types want help with a member's account.

Screw him and his organization.

Todd.

Sounds like they're cooperating with Ban All The Fun Everytime to bust people.

So what is it? A clever way to get people to divulge personal information to the public and the prying eyes of dotgub.
