So I just bought a Beretta APX Centurion and was wondering if any of you knew a good holster I can use for it. I prefer OWB to IWB, and would prefer it have at least L1 retention (like a thumbsnap strap or similar). I will also use the holster for Concealed carry, so a pancake or similar is a must. I am a rather small guy; 5ft 8in, 110LB soaking wet, and pretty slim so OWB is most comfortable carry style for me.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Is this the original APX, or the APX A1? Due to the different slide serrations, it probably makes a difference.

Just for expectations, pancakes aren't always the best option for the very slim. Finding a flat spot on your body large enough to place a pancake can be tough for very slim folks. Since a pancake has a tendency to close up when a pistol is drawn, that feature of a pancake is magnified on a slim person as the holster often wraps around the slim persons hip.

See the comment from Del Fatti Leather on their LP (their pancake holster) page. http://www.delfatti.com/2011 LP.html

The leather holster makers don't usually do as good of a job listing the guns they cover as the kydex guys, so I'll list some makers that offer leather with a thumb break (thumb breaks are not common on concealment holsters) and you may have to call or e-mail to find out if your model is covered.

Lobo shows the APX, though doesn't specify model. https://lobogunleather.com/handguns-accommodated/

I realize most haven't seen an APX A1 Centurion, but you never know if somebody is at the leading edge of distribution, and since I know they are coming, I had to ask.

It is the Legacy Centurion, not the A1. I didn't like the A1 options, Full size was too long a barrel (4.25in) and carry was way too small in general. If they are creating a Centurion A1, I will definitely trade-in my legacy Centurion for it lol. Also TY for the holster info.

For leather OWB I like Simply Rugged as well.

If you happen to change your mind to kydex without retention, I found Clinger and Muddy River Tactical made good holsters for the APX when I had one.

In the Simply Rugged line-up, the model with the thumb break would be the Tribute https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecomme...oncealment-Holster.cfm?item_id=158&parent=669
probably , unless the OP has had a quality open top holster he has no idea of the retension in something like a Cuda open top pancake or a Milt Sparks 200 AW ! You could buck bronco or ride bulls with one (it's been done with the Cuda ) and stand on your head or do flips and the pistol is NOT coming out . Since the later 80s I have carefully cut many retaining straps on otherwise good holster , especially for semi Pistols . The only thing I can see retension device for are if you are an LEO or soldier and they are required , or some revolvers carried in some not as heavy duty well made non custom belt holsters, Like the very good .Galco , Bianchi and other quality heavy leather holsters that are NOT individually molded to the certain model gun they are "made" for.

I 100% agree with you.

I'm always surprised by the number of folks that are holster searching, that have a manual retention device requirement. I assume most are LE and have some sort of organizational requirement, and I get that, and I try to help them find what they need. However, I also assume the rest of the folks somehow think a gun is retained in a quality open top holster by nothing more than gravity. That is not the case.

Nearly every open top holster I own could be given to an Olympic gymnast, and they could holster a gun and do a complete floor routine and the gun isn't falling out of these holsters.
