Are the upper and lowers from major AR-10 manufarcturers interchangable? I mean from the 3 major makers, Armalite, DPMS, and Bushmaster/RRA.

I'm almost set on a Bushmaster BAR-10 if I can find one, but I don't know if RRA will ever continue the production. I like the idea of being able to change uppers.

An Armalite upper will fit on a DPMS lower, but will leave an ugly gap behind the takedown pin and there will be problems with DPMS magazine fit with an Armalite upper. A DPMS upper will not fit an Armalite lower.

I don't have experience with Bushmaster/RRA

It's interesting that the AR- 15 assemblies are interchangeable, yet the AR- 10 assemblies are not.
AR15s are unique in that they follow the specifications of the military M16s (similar to the way 1911s do with the military M1911A1). The .308 ARs (AR10s are Armalites specifically) are proprietary 'solutions' that each company came up with on their own with disregard to their competitors rifles. They were never designed to interchange.

You wouldn't expect a Winchester rifle's parts to fit a Remington or a Savage, would you?

.308 rifles? Yes.

Uppers? Me don't know.

Nateonal Hawkey Leeg? I don know eather...
