ar-15 backlogs

no gun shows here until september, so not an option. however, if the backlog is 8-12 months as some of the manufacturers are claiming it is, then september isn't so bad...

i'm just looking for a lower parts kit and a 20" complete upper, so i don't necessarily need an ffl, but will just buy a complete rifle if i have to.

local dealer has plenty of ar's in, but they are all collapsible stock guns, and i've got plenty of those already... i need an a-1 buttstock, but an a-2 will work, but don't need my dealer's collapsibles...

if the judicial climate keeps shifting to the pro-gun favor, then an AWB might be discouraged enough to where a lot of people won't want to bother sticking their necks close to the cutting board on a hot issue that could end up immediately going to the courts.

The real worry is going to be tax hiking on ammo. Everyone is now getting their gun, and now they need ammo. Problem there is that ammo is hard to find for anything popular. 9mm, .380, .45, most rifles except .270 and .338WSM, etc. are either twice the cost of a box, or is only available in slightly increased but still equally crappy wolf ammo.

There are still so many jobs at stake (not just in the luxury product/auto/aircraft/airline industries), that lots of people are worried about having the money to pay for their guns, unless guns are the highest priority.

WTS: "Because there is no more room in the gun safe...."

My order through RRA is still about 6 months out according to the dealer I am working through. That will make it a year from time of order to shipment. Gave me a year to save for it.:) Brother ordered one before he shipped to Iraq and the dealer where he lives said a year also. Both are LAR-8 .308 rifles.

We are seeing more and more of this in Michigan. We had "the panic" big time from November through about March, but now so many people are losing jobs there are fairly good deals to be had locally. Some of them are clearing out older guns, but a large number are like-new, often unfired "EBRs" that people bought between 2008 and now.

Ah yes, the mythical RRA LAR-8, the ultimate vaporware of the AR industry. I remember trying to buy one back in what I think was 2006 (?), getting no answer to emails, getting busy signals for 5-10 telephone calls, and finally getting through one day and being told they might be available 18 months in the future.

email from model 1 sales i received today said they are 26-28 weeks out from orders placed today. that means they are shipping orders from december/january time period right now...

keep in mind though, that the many of those sales are to dealers who panicked and ordered way more than they can sell. shelves of every gun store i've seen this month have been chock full of ar15s.

imho, the only people who have a problem are the ones who want something custom. if you want vanilla, shop the distributors or retailers and find all you want
