AR-15 Barrel- changing gas port location

Making the new gas block location and drilling a new gas port would be a fairly simple job.

Plugging the old gas port hole in the barrel would maybe not be so simple.

I'd just get a proper mid-length barrel.
Probably be cheaper and work better in the grand scheme of things.

I didnt even think about plugging the old hole, thank you for bringing that into play. New barrel just seems easier as you mentioned.

Thanks for the input.

I really don't understand what you mean about milling the barrel down to .750". The area between the gas port location and the muzzle are smaller than .750" in diameter. Otherwise, how would you get the gas block on. Now, you could plug the existing gas port and have the barrel turned down to accept a gas block for a lightweight barrel.

You're better off buying a new barrel. Ranier Arms Select for under $200. It's a nice barrel.
