I have the stripped lower and now im looking to buy the rest and put it together for my self. i want to start with a bag of parts and finish with full rifle.

Where do you recommend to buy from.

Im looking for 5.56mm.

16 to 20 inch barrel.

Im not sure about collapsible stock or not..... and all for under $600.00 if I can.

Cheapest kits I've found are DelTon's from Midway USA at $470 and that's everything you need except the lower. You can get them a tad cheaper from Del-ton, but it's my understanding there's long wait.
I built a Del-Ton 16" Dissipator (wanted a 20" but Midway was sold out, and patience is not a virtue I possess)kit on a PSA lower and it shoots quit well. I wrung it out pretty hard today with a variety of handloads and it shot 55 gr. Sierra's right close to 1" at 100 yds.
Mine came with a collapsible stock and I hated it. Traded it for a fixed stock and all is well. Collapsible is OK if you want your rifle for some sort of tactical something or other, but for serious shooting at extending ranges, a fixed is much, much better.

I forgot about Blackthorne. They're a little cheaper, but I read quite a few bad things about them, so I went with Del-Ton. Just an FYI.

+1 for PSA. Their standard barrels are 4150 steel. And their cold hammer forged barrels are made by FN like he said.

another nod to PSA. Inexpensive but good quality. Build a basic kit, then swap out parts to fit what you figure out you need/want as you get used to the rifle.

I went with a Del-Ton midlength kit a few years back. No problems with the LPK assembly and the product has been trouble free. Trigger function smoothed out after some wearing in. Also, no issues when running a .22 conversion.

I'll give another nod to PSA.

I have assembled 2 of their kits in the past month for a good friend of mine.

One a 16" M4 profile and the other a 20" with the FN barrel. Both were nice. I was suprised at the quality of parts (HFB & CL 1/7 barrels, FA BC, MPI bolt) and the fit/finish (properly staked gas tubes, nice looking park & anodizing) PSA can supply at that price.

When I build another AR for myself it's gonna be a PSA kit.

I am another fan of PSA. I have built 2 ARs with PSA lowers and have another AR with PSA parts. All of PSA parts are very good.

Be warned, they are usually a little slow to ship, especially during their sales. I am talking about days, so it isnt a big deal. Uppers and complete rifles are built per order, so shipping times may be weeks. That is normal. Just the parts and ammo shipping can be slower during sales. Otherwise, PSA is great.

FWIW, over christmas I built my first AR using a Del-Ton complete midlength upper ($400 on midway), and a CMMG stripped lower ($110) with a PSA classic-style lower parts kit (only $45).

I can tell you that the PSA parts kit worked out perfectly and installed in the lower easy as cake. Decent trigger pull, too. Amazing that others like DPMS and Bushmaster charge $60 for theirs! Plus PSA also offers a MOE-themed lower parts kit with MOE grip and enhanced MOE trigger guard for only 10 bucks more than their classic kit.

The Del-Ton upper has been perfect too, $400 got me the 4150 CMV heavy barrel and an HPT/MPI bolt. So far I've put 100 rounds of federal brass .223, 120 of russian steel case, and 10 62gr 5.56mm with no issues.

Just my 0.02

The cheapest complete kits I have seen are from Sarco in shotgun news. Problem is you need all the AR specific tools since the upper does not come assembled, and there are only two choices. Still I think it was about $399 for everything but the stripped lower.
