Yesterday i disassembled my AR-15s lower. I drove out the two pins that hold the hammer and trigger assembly to clean them. I lightly lubed all of the pieces and put them back in properly(yes, the springs are in the right way). I took it out to shoot it today and the first 10 rounds or so fired perfectly but then every couple rounds after that, the hammer would catch on the disconnecter and the trigger would not reset. I had to nudge the trigger forward to get it to reset, not forcefully, just put a little forward pressure on the back of the trigger and it clicked in place and was ready to fire. Before i disassembled and cleaned the lower, the rifle worked flawlessy for every round i had fired through it(about 400 rounds or so). Can anyone explain why my rifles disconnecter is off time, or if theres another problem, what it is? Thanks everyone,

Dylan

I'd be 100% sure the hammer, trigger and disconnector springs are in properly. Don't know what else it could be unless the safety bar is somehow stopping the trigger from going all the way forward.

make sure your disconnector is in right,i had this same problem one time and that is what it turned out to be.

i will get a pic up in about 20 minutes. it dry fires fine when i cock the hammer back with my thumb and pull the trigger, and it also works fine when i have the upper pinned on and cock it by the charging handle and dry fire it. its only every few rounds when im firing live ammo. again, i will get a picture up in about 20 minutes

cell phone didnt take good enough pictures so i wont be able to post pics of the lower, youre just going to have to take my work that all the parts are assembled correctly which they are(i have double and tripple checked). i tried three different lubes and each time, it seemed to lock up more with lube. when i dried the lube off, the trigger didnt stick quite as often. when i hold down the trigger so the disconnecter is forward, then pull back the hammer with my thumb and click it into place under the disconnecter, and let off the trigger, the disconnecter will stay latched onto the hammer instead of falling back off of the hammer due to the release of pressure on the trigger like it should. this is extremely dissappointing...my thoughts now are, whats the point of spending almost $700 on a doublestar AR15 that cant even be taken apart to be cleaned without malfunctioning? :cuss:

You might take it apart and double check that the small, easily lost disconnector spring is still in the FCG.

Hope your not dry firing without the upper, or if you are, at least keeping the hammer from smacking the mag hold open lever. I would take it back apart, clp the snot out of it, and try again.

i made sure the spring was in there. its all there and all in the right places. its just that for some reason the trigger is sticking on the hammer when it didnt before and the pressure release of my finger off the trigger when live firing for some reason isnt enough to reset the trigger like it was before i did this. Its just not adding up

And jdgray, what do you mean by clp the disconneceter?

sounds like a great product...but the gun is relatively new. ive only put about 500 rounds through it. the trigger parts are squeaky clean and lubed up. i dissassebled everything again just a few minutes ago and took it out back and put 10 rounds through it with the trigger resetting prefectly every time. weird...ive now lost my piece of mind from this though so...is there any way to smooth up the trigger assembly? like polishing? what should i use?
Thanks everyone!

Dylan
