I have a couple ARs that I picked up in California "post-ban". The rule in CA to get an AR at the time was that the rifle could not have more than x "bad assault rifle" features (I don't remember the actual number). In any case, the rifles have neither a muzzle break nor a flash suppressor as a result.

Forgive the ignorant question, but can I pick up a couple Bird Cage Flash Hiders (http://www.bushmaster.com/shopping/brakes) and have them installed by a local gunsmith? Or perhaps this would require the purchase of a different threaded barrel?

If I want these 2 ARs to have flash hiders, what do I need to do?

Thanks,

Farmer

IF YOU'RE SURE that it is legal to install then in Idaho, then yes. It requres removing the barrel and milling down to the proper diameter, then threading the barrel. You should be able to get it done locally fairly cheap. Later.

Depending on the OD of your barrel, you can get a TAT and a die, and do it yourself. The TAT centers the die and keeps it square to the barrel.
