AR-15 KB with HSM ammo

George,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and we're glad that nobody was hurt. I was hoping you could tell us which ammo it was exactly - especially considering that you report having multiple problems with it recently. On their retail price sheet, there are 23 types of .223 loads and 3 types of 5.56 loads. If I'm reading it right, only 3 of the total 26 loads are using reloaded brass. Thanks.

Okay, follow up and results.
Both Armalite and HSM have stepped up to the plate and have taken care of the matter to our satisfaction.
The rifle is being repaired 100 % and HSM is replacing all our ammo from these effected lots. (don't worry, we got all of it so you should be cool)

Now, if FORD and Pontiac would be the same way when we have problems with our vehicles!

what

any remarks on the cause as both are taking care of it???.looked like out battery to me and yes there is a tear acrose the case and the back let go.we had a 50 let go the locking block was not reinstaled and the base blew off.that bolthead looks ok but the bolt carrier took the blast.:confused::uhoh:
:rolleyes::D:D

I've only shot a limited amount of their pistol ammo. In 41 mag I remember specifically that it was VERY consistant over the chrono with good accuracy.

Dad tried some of thier 308 stuff in his Rem 700. Had a few duds and poor accuracy out of the rest.

So given this thread, it's back to handloads, or premium ammo only for me.

Glad now that I didn't waste my money on that crap back during the group buy. I had heard very little good, and quite a bit of bad info about it then, and this all confirms my decision was a good one.

I too would classify these guys in the "black hills" category that you seem to be alluding to.

Yea, right.

Case head Failure

Glad to hear no one was hurt. This was due to a case head failure. it looks like the neck of the shell was weak and when the pressure built up it caused the case head to rupture. I used to see this happen with all ammo manufacturers when I worked for Sig Sauer.

The information in this thread is old and outdated. In the interest of keeping this from looking like it's something current that we should all be aware of, I'm going to close this discussion.
