In fact, they might be better than the NATO magazine. The British blamed their gun problems on the mag so they surplussed them all and had HK get them new ones. Go figure, same problems cropped up on modified guns in Afganistan. Mags are made very well and should last as long or longer than NATO mags.
I just bought some British mags from Eric at www.ammoman.com. I haven't had a chance to try them yet, but they seem to be comparable to our GI mags. Some folks claim they're better.
They're less expensive than GI mags.
I recently got some of the British SA80 mags. They are slightly heavier than USGI mags and feel much more sturdy. They are also finished in a nice parkerized coat.
As others have noted, sometimes when fully loaded with 30 rounds, they will not seat under a closed bolt. I, too, found this to be the case in several of the British mags I received.
Some have advised filing the upper edge of the mag catch slot. Others have noted that the legs of the blue/black follower in the British mags are slightly longer than in the green USGI follower.
I tried replacing the followers first, and it seemed to do the trick as the mags now seat under a closed bolt when fully loaded with 30 rounds. I also tested these mags this weekend and they seemed to feed and function well and lock back the bolt reliably.
I would try replacing the follwers with USGI green ones first before filing the magazine catch hole.
I found a dealer that has them four dollars cheaper than Ammoman had them! 15 bucks each order over 50 bucks of them shipping is free. Got them in today, not a blemish on them, still wraped in oiled paper!!
Thanks for you help guys
Sorry! Dan's Sporting goods www.falparts.com
I think you will have to pay shipping. they charge $10 for every pakage west of the Mississippi.
I bet these won't last long! I wish I could afford a load of them.
BTW, I think will put the green followers in mine. I haven't tested them as of yet.

I went to a gun show looking to get a couple mags for my AR and when I kept seeing $40 on USGI mags I felt sick. I walked around saw SA-80 mags for $23 on every other table. I Said to myself, "self.....the British ain't so bad why don't you try one?"
