AR-15: New Jewell Trigger .. trigger reset problem

I recently added a Rock River National Match upper to my Bushy lower. I shot the rifle for the first time today. Extraction was faultless.

Two major problems.

1. Upon firing, bolt cycles automatically, but the trigger is not reset. The trigger resets when I partially cycle the bolt by hand. What might be going on? The hammer might be cocking as designed, but the force of the bolt returning releases the hammer. If this is possible, would setting the pull a bit higher resolve this issue? Is this even a possibility?

2. A few light strikes and no kaboom. The Jewell comes with a lighter hammer.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to increase the pull weight, preferably by increasing the hammer spring weight. Best bet would be to call Jewell for the how-to, unless you can figure it out from the instructions that came with the trigger.

My suggestion would be to call Tommy Haskins at Georgia Precision. Be honest and tell him that you didn't buy it from him, but knowing Tommy, he'll tell you how to do it perfectly, and hopefully he'll earn your future business with him.

Thanks.. I've made a few adjustments per Jewell and I will see where it takes me. I appreciate the feedback. The AR-15 is new to me and I'm sure the learning curve will be steep.

Nero knows whereof he speaks. Adjust the pull weight [i.e, move the wire out of the notch back towards the buttstock and reinsert it] with the little hook included in the Jewell package and then decrease it, notch by notch, until it causes a problem again. Reset a bit heavier and you're good to go.

The Jewell two-stage is an excellent trigger...the best for the money, IMO. I like to use a little PTFE grease like Tetra Gun's on the sear interface. Should make it smooooth and let it break like the proverbial glass rod.

If you don't like it, I'll buy it from you and give you enough money to get the RRA trigger.

Just curious: How does one adjust trigger pull, creep, and overtravel on the RR trigger??

Howdy
What is the spacing between the trigger and hammer pins for an AR? Both vertical and horizontal. I want to make a bench block to work on them outside of the frame.
