I will admit. The past few days, if I could find something mag wise that was not a complete ripoff, I bought a few. I have a couple of shooting friends who felt the same way.
I will say...I have been warned off enough from Promag poly/zytel stuff, that I did not order any. However, I have a friend who bought 10 Promag 42 round AR 15 magazines ($180.00), among some others. He offered me a couple of them for $20.00 each and I figured what the hell, ok.
I tried both of them out today. Loaded the first mag with 38 rounds. Slow fire. zero issues. Loaded again with 40 rounds, slow fire. Zero issues.
Loaded the 2nd magazine with 40 rounds. Rapid fire. FTF @ 37th round. Cleared action, rapid fire finish, no issue.
Loaded the 2nd magazine with 42 rounds. Slow fire. All 42 rounds. Zero issues.
I went back to the first magazine I had used and loaded it with 40 rounds (trying not to push my luck). 40 rounds rapid fire. No issues, but, I did slow down arounf round 35.
These seem to be pretty good hi-cap mags. Maybe I got lucky with them. ??
Anyhow, I bought these two mags and a Promag 73 round AK-47 drum (I have not tried the drum out) for $120.00 from my friend. He had bought 5 drums for $78.00 each.
I'm kind of curious. I know it seems to be in vogue to say, "Its just a panic buy", or, "I'll never buy that at that price" Really? From reading what others have posted, I seem to be the only one who has tried to "prudently" (ok, I think) stock up on some magazines and such.
Has anyone else bought some extra magazines and/or drums, ammo, etc.?
I'll admit, I have bought some mags and some ammo. I do however, believe that the prices I have paid have not been too overly inflated. I have tried to be prudent.
Any others?
