AR-15 Receiver Wear

I was cleaning my AR when I noticed some wear inside the receiver where the bolt carrier rides on the lower left side. Just finish wear, no metal wear.

The rifle has a few thousand rounds threw it, anyone have experience with this?

keep it well lubed or strip it bare and have it mp3'd at robar.com check into synthetic lube.

If it slides - Grease it. If it rotates - Oil it.

I also like to use the synthetic lubricants.

i use amsoil synthetic wheel bearing grease.water proof

I keep the BCG sloppy wet. I use a mix of Mobil 1 synthetic oil and grease. Or sometimes some Breakfree. They all work well.

But a little wear like you describe, shiny spots, is nothing to worry about.

Its normal. However the quality of coatings will make a difference in how long they last. And as mentioned above the way you clean and lube will also affect how long it takes to wear

Echo.......keep the BCG wet, even if ni boron or nitride....keep it wet
