AR 15 scope question

I am thinking about getting an A3 AR-15, the bushmaster patrolman configuration. My question is what type of sight picture do you get if you removed the carry handle and put a scope on it? Does the front sight interfere with your sight image? Should I get a straight flattop if I want to scope the rifle in the future?

Depending on your glass you may see a slight shadow in the glass. Also if the magnification is low, the front sight will be more prominent. Generally though, if the magnification is above 3x, the focal length of the scope will mean that you will only see a slight shadow if you notice anything at all.

I just put a 2x-7x Burris on my 16" flat top. Even when on 2x I don't see anything of the front sight.
