I just got a new Bushmaster XM-15 with the 16" barrel and the A3 top. Also included was an extra A3 carrying handle with a C-More sight built on to it. I went through the 25 meter sighting routine with the C-More A3 sight (the iron sights) and am ready to move the dot over to the front post.

But I am curious as to how other AR-15 owners sight in their rifles. Do you use this method to start off with or do you just go straight to longer distances and not mess with the 25 meter process?

I zeroed mine with the Santose "Improved Battlesight Zero" and I couldn't be happier. A flatter trajectory from 0 to 200 yards and the drop is only about 4" at 250 yards, which is perfect for an AR-15 battlesight zero. If I flip my aperature to the "L" side, I get 300+ yards.

Incidently, I should mention that the two techniques I mentioned get you the same trajectory. The Improved Zero is used at 50yds but requires some hocus pocus with the sight to change the range of the adjustment. It also results in an effective 200m range on the elevation wheel.

The Marines just zero at 36 yards and are done with it.
