• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

Stiring up a hornets' nest but which is the better battle rifle AR 15 or M1A Scout ? And why..

Hornet's nest is right:)

technically the AR15 isn't a battle rifle due to the chambering. I've always liked M1As better anyway so I'll go with that.

I guess it all depends on what you want. I love my ar for its modularity. In my opinion the ar can be configured for multitude of roles from close quarters to long range shooting. However the m1a is a nice looking rifle with a heavy hitting round. That being said buy both.

Neither an AR-15(nothing whatever to do with the chambering) nor an M1A is a battle rifle. They're both sporting rifles. An M1A Scout is a marketing thing only.

Which is better, a BMW Z4 or a 540i? Kinda depends what you value and what you want to do?

I don't think there's a good answer to your "question" that's less than 5 pages long.

M1A Scout / SOCOM is a LOUD rifle, so LOUD you would have to double up on hearing protection if you shoot in a closed bay, or a bay with a roof.

The performance of both is not in the same ball park do to the diff in calibers. The Ar-15 is faster in every respect for follow up shots. Yes even a .308 needs follow up shots.

So its up to you, you can get a real nice Ar-15 in .223, 6.8 or 7.62x39mm for much less then the cost of a rack grade M1A of any kind.

ar15 if you want to carry lots of little rounds
m1a scout if you really want a serious "battle rifle"
or get both lol

???

I have never worn anything more than foam plugs when I shoot my SOCOM and like that have never thought it to be inordinately loud, even under a roof.

Yes sir,

with the brake "flash hider" its one of the loudest rifles on the market at 16"

thats because you are losing you hearing :D
its loud, I had a guy shooting one a bench over and it was noticeable louder than my 22" barreled Howa 1500 .308 and my gun is loud. seriously loud.

you are behind the gun :)

The people next to you probably disagree. I never thought my PSL was particularly loud until I let my brother shoot it, and that is out of a 22"+ barrel.
