Im looking for an Ar 308 for about $1000-1200. it must have at least an 18 inch barrel. ive looked at the dpms 308. just too short any suggestions?

I have a DPMS with a 24" bull barrel, and got it within your price range. They offer many different configurations / barrel lengths.

I've had the LR308AP4 from DPMS, sold it as it was a Heavy, poorly balanced beast.

Currently I have an AR-10 from Armalite (carbine length) that's 7.75lbs, but a 16" BBL.

If I were to recommend a .308 AR that I have experience with, it's hands down an Armalite AR-10.

Any reason why it has to be longer than 18"? Just asking, because as mentioned, the longer barreled models get to be heavy and unwieldly. Inch for inch and pound for pound you can get into a lot more rifle with a bolt gun, which is what I did.

Of the .308 ARs, I like the little carbines. I think they are the most useful. I just don't like the muzzle blast.

The DPMS TAC has a 20" tube. The cost is typically about $1,100. Mine shoots really well.
