ar barrel dimpling

Hello,

Up to this point for ar builds I have had the gas blocks pinned into place. Current project I want to try just set screws to align and secure the gasblock. I have a jig to dimple the barrel but is it necessary to dimple both spots or just the one under the gas port? Also as far as threadlocker goes on the set screws I am considering trying rocksett as from what I have read is it has very high heat resistance and about the same strength as blue loctite? Any suggestions?

If your gas block is using set screws just make 2 shallow dimples with a sharp drill bit. Don't use rocksett on the set screws. Use blue Loctite and torque a 2nd time. You can also stake the screws if you feel its necessary.

I use knurl point screws. No thread locker or stake. have done many that way with no complaints.
