AR design question

Why did they not include the magwell as part of the upper?

I realize it would have complicated assembly a teeny bit, but why not just take the magwell out of the equation entirely for doing caliber changes? I noticed they did the same exact thing for the SCAR-L.

Prolly 'cause caliber changes weren't planned into the AR15's original development, I dunno.

You can't sell accessory magwell adapters if the magwell is part of the upper silly!!

Remember the AR was designed back in the 50's.

The SCAR spec was written up with a half century of experience with various platforms behind it.

The MGI setup is REALLY making me think about getting an AR. They could make a magwell that would take 10/22 mags for the 22 LR uppers.

No, the SCAR has the same problems as the AR. I was complaining that they took the same approach.

Um.. is it just me, or is that bolt carrier awful G-36-ish?
