I say buy what you like.
The problem is that I like so many different configurations and the only way I have been able to cope is to build what I like.
Here are a few.

You make a good point, No need for pics though. I dont need any more inspiration to drain my bank account lol

Whats the significance of that? So it can look like it came off the same boat as most AKs?( I kid , I kid)
The Banana gun will just be a fun build and will most likely end up another color down the road. I did a Junkyard build a while back that has ended up being one of my AR I love to shoot.
I think one should not limit themselves.
I have AR's for fun and for duty. I even have some for hunting.
My son has his two favorite, one is a PSA Premium M$ carbine build. It had an FN barrel and the other is the Lone Survivor build. it's a tack driver.
I have a hard time making up my mind what I like the best so, I just build what I like.
If you like the BCM rifle, go for it.
You could use the other rifle for trying out new parts.
I don't like having extra uppers sitting around, like others have said, they end up becoming rifles. In the pic. the second rifle from the left started out as a barrel that was just sitting in my shop. As you can see, it turned itself into a nice looking rifle.
