who's got the best deal on a stripped ar lower?
The $85 stripped Stag lowers @ Eagle Arms are a great deal and the $145 assembled lower isn't bad either. I usually get my lower parts kit for $45 with my C&R discount(Anybody building more than two or three rifles should pay the $30 for a C&R licence just to enjoy the discounts at Brownells and Midway) and then I add a Rock River NM trigger, so it works out better for me to assemble it myself. But if you are going with standard parts and don't have a set of punches or are afraid of springs flying across the room, by all means, get it assembled and enjoy the deal.MatthewVanitas said:I'm going for a Stag Arms (from www.eaglefirearms.net) for my January build. $145 buys you a compleat lower with grip.
Not to put anybody down, but it seems folks are always getting excited about buying a $99 lower and $50 parts kit. Have the prices of compleat lowers dropped recently, or did it always cost less to just buy it compleat? If you're putting in a lot of custom components, or get a really good deal on a stripped, or just want to have fun, I could see getting a stripped. Myself, I'm going to save $5 and some hassle and get the Stag Arms compleat.
Or is the current $145 compleat anomalous?

i've heard nothing but good things about stag, but for the extra couple of bucks, i decided to get a RRA lower anyways.
to me, stripped stag lowers are like the sort of thing you buy 20 of as a hedge investment for some future gun ban.
