I was watching a combat tactical instruction video and the instructor said the best choice for fighting was a two point sling. He said a single point was better suited for a member of a team or squad rather than a lone fighter. The weapon is an AR15. What do you think?

Wise statement as far as the two point. Single points are geared more towards high speed competition styles. They can be alright, until you smack your jewels a few times with your rifle.

Check out the Vickers VTAC padded two point sling; it's a great one.

Like most pieces of gear, it all depends what you want to do. There is not one universal answer.

For SWAT type teams that mostly do building entry and have backup, and are never hiking through the woods for hours, single-point may make sense for allowing the easiest shoulder transitions.

For your average civilian, and also for most military uses, two-point slings allow much better carry and much better muzzle control, although they are a bit slower for shoulder transitions.

I mostly use two-point slings.

Here is a really good writeup on sling options:

My personal preference is the Patrol Sling from Spec-Ops. The Vickers and VTAC slings also get great reviews, and there are other brands that are fine too.

I used to be a big proponent of single point slings. My main reasons were the ones Z just mentioned. Quicker transitions, a bit more weapons control when handling it, etc.

However after using Vickers Tactical slings I am a convert. You lose very little speed or controlability of the weapon and gain 2 very important things.

1: Flexibility. You can use a good 2 point on either shoulder, or you can move it behind you and sling it out of the way. Or you can even use it as a shooting sling in some cases.

2: The ability to have children. Run one class with a single point and you will see what I mean. OUCH OUCH OUCH.

Some slings like the magpul MS2/3 try to solve this by being a 1 or 2 point. It is a good solution that has potential. The problem with the MS2 sling is that it isn't made for real world use. It is far to thin and cuts into your shoulder unless you are wearing armor.

Someone on M4c.net did a conversion of the Vickers sling that made it work like the MS2. But for now I am sticking with the standard Vickers using QD swivels. I have 5 of them between y ARs and AK.

My next sling will be a Vickers two point. I'm getting the padded version to hopefully cut down on the strap burn.

Varbo, unless you are using it naked I don't think that will be a problem. :)
I have both and do prefer the padded version. Here is one thing to consider though. It doesn't slide as easily which makes it a bit harder to transition and move the gun.

I like the padded VTAC 2 point. Don't think you can go wrong iwth either VTAC or Vickers; I simply got the VTAC because I found a great deal on it and it was substantially cheaper than the Vickers.

I bought a VTAC a couple weeks ago, and while I like it, I kept looking at the darn dangling strap wondering what if it got caught on stuff.

I have to admit I ordered a padded Vickers yesterday.
