Gentlemen, et al:
Ran this by the legal forum, who apparently conclude this is legal, if funny looking:
AR upper, buffer tube, buffer & spring
FAL lower & stock
Plastic adapter, the legal "firearm", containing a magazine well, buffer tube mounting nut, and Semi-Automatic fire control parts
The buffer tube would sit above the FAL stock; if AR trigger bits are used, some sort of extension would have to be finangled.
Advantage? If you're building @ home, & drill a hole in the wrong place, you've screwed up a $15 hunk of plastic. Throw it away & try again on another one. Oh, & it would drive the BATFE & liberals nuts.
Disadvantage? No guarantee the plastic "Middle" would stand up to .458" SOCOM, or even 6.5mm Grendel. You might have to replace it every 5 magazines, for all we know. It would be a very funny looking gun, with a bore definitely above the stock line.
Possible? Interest?
