AR15 A2 sights

I noticed that my AR-15 rear sight aperture is a lot on the left side, even when it says it is centered. When using the O-2 large hole aperture, it is kind of annoying because when I do the Army nose weld to the charging handle, the side of the cutout in the carry handle obstructs a little bit of my sight picture. Is this normal? Or maybe the put the sight in too far left because the front sight base might be bent left? I'm confused.

This is caused by the barrel being incorrectly torqued. This is no big deal and the only result is that your rear sight isn't centered. You can also correct the problem very simply if you have a barrel wrench and a torque wrench.

I agree, your barrel was most likely put on crooked.

Let me guess...The barrel is a Bushmaster. Bushmaster has had a slew of barrels released over the last year or so with the front sights canted like a cheap AK.

If you can get them to fix it great. Otherwise you'll have to redrill the front sight pin holes for larger pins after setting it straight.

What are front sight pin holes ? You mean the ones on the bottom of the barrel ?

All you need to do is re-torque the barrel. This is no big deal at all. You don't need to "fix" it at all unless it really bothers you or you can't zero the rifle the way it is.

Nitpick: it's really a matter of re-indexing the barrel, not re-torquing it. If I'm not mistaken, it's the barrel nut that gets torqued, while the barrel remains indexed TDC.

Assuming it is a Bushmaster, they've been pretty good about re-indexing out-of-spec barrels. You can also do it yourself with minimal tools.
