I went to the range last night and had a problem with rounds getting caught just below the feed ramp right in the center of the bullet nose. The rifle is less than a year old and has had less than 500 round thru it. The lower is a Rock River, which should have no bearing here and the upper is a Stag A4 type. I tried 3 different mags, which are new C-Products and the ammo was American Eagle 50gr. HPs. I was wondering if the feed ramps where out of spec, although I have not had this problem before and this time is occurred about 20 times. I used several mags so I think that is not the problem. I also thought about the ammo. But I have used this ammo before and not have this occur.
Any thoughts? And yes I have a similar type post asking about chambering issued with my Mil-Spec!! It was a very frusrating night to be sure! Thanks

The ammo might be short in overall length either as a defect or short enough not to agree with your gun/ magazine combination. Try other ammo or a different brand of mags if you want to shoot the 50 grain ammo.

Also check your extractor to make sure its not damaged or has gunk keeping it from moving freely.

C-Products did put out a bad batch of mags. I would try a different brand of magazine, preferably one you know works in other ARs.

If that doesn't work, then the next thing I would try is checking the feed area for any burrs or oddities that might explain the hangup.

This is why all my guns have M4 feed ramps.

Find an ammo/mag combination your gun likes. I would suggest Okay/NHMTG mags and 55gr FMJ ammo.
