Hi all,

I am continuing my AR15 build. I have now purchased a RRA striped lower, Now I need to select a lower parts kit to go into the RRA striped lower. Like I found out with the striped lower there are only a few company's that mill the lowers / but many company's put there stamp on it (And QC varies slightly). Does the same apply for lower receiver parts kit?

My Questions are:

How many company's make lower receiver parts kits? And for who?
What would be the best lower parts kit for the striped RRA lower? BTW Mil Spec is fine.

Check out palmetto state armory for an LPK. They have a sale eight now that includes the LPK, MOE grip and MOE trigger guard for $60.

I like Stag if you are going with a standard trigger, if you are going with a custom trigger try a parts kit from Del-Ton or PSA where you can select your trigger option.
Also another good one would be to select the Armalite LPK with two stage tactical trigger, but it would be a little pricey, CMMG I think would be good but I have not tried CMMG personally

I got a Spike's Tactical Enhanced LPK with NiB coated parts. It was pricey but the trigger is actually very nice for not being a fancy match thing. And, it comes with fancy polished stainless KNS Anti-Rotation Pins that improve the pull a little.

There is varying quality LPK's. I most cases you get what you pay for. PSA sells DPMS LPK parts and these work fine.

G&R puts together a high quality mil-spec LPK, cost a bit more but real quality stuff.

LMT and ArmaLite make some of their own LPK parts and it's high quality. My personal preference is ArmaLite.

If you compare LPK parts side by side you well see subtle differences. Springs, diameter and number of coils, some meet spec, some don't. The detent pins, some are rounded only on one end instead of both ends. Some kits use true roll pins, others use split pins.

Just about any LPK gets the job done and is 100% satisfactory for 99% of shooters.

I have been happy with building my last three lowers with RRA LPK's w/2 stage triggers. I picked them up from the same seller (arguy1) on gunbroker for ~$120.

Ive used dpms. Nothing to write home about, but they work. I want to get a better trigger, but I can't justify it on a rifle that shoots fine as is. The grass is always greener, you know?

I've built 3 lowers with the PSA kits and 2 with Daniel Defense LPKs. I like that the DD kit comes with the MOE trigger guard as standard, but otherwise there is nothing to justify the increased price.

The Spikes coated trigger is a very good, economical, improvement over the normal mil-spec trigger. Two of my rifles have that trigger in them. I have a RRA two-stage in one rifle. It's definitely an upgrade from mil-spec as well. My latest rifle is the basis for a Service Rifle competition rifle, so I went all out and installed a Giessele Hi-Speed Service Rifle trigger in it. That decision is going to cost me. I have at least 4 more Giessele triggers to buy now.

Thanks all for the help. I will be going with the Daniels defense (because of the good price and overall recommendations) from multiple forums. I will be adding another thread for suggestions for an upper receiver.

The PSA LPk I bought a 18 months ago was DPMS according to PSA's email when I inquired about it. They may well sell another source by now.

My one and only experience with a Spikes coated trigger is the coating flaked off with in a few months. It's possible I got a bad one. I only use ArmaLite two stage triggers now, easy weight adjustment and 100% reliability. I would like them to offer a higher end single stage trigger.

Don't doubt it about the LPK's, Schneider is a major suppler of AR parts. All seem to be of good quality.

Three months ago PSA said on the industry form at arfcom that their lowers came from two different sources. The pictogram lowers came from Aero Precision and the "SAFE/FIRE" lower from a outfit in Delaware as I recall.

If you see how fast PSA moves parts, stuff is in and out of stock on a weekly basis. I wouldn't doubt they get parts wherever they can find them.

PSA does not manufacturer any parts, they package parts for other suppliers and sell at very reasonable prices.

Another vote for PSA. The standard AR trigger in my lower build kit is probably the best standard AR trigger I've encountered.

Last time I was in there Greg stated that they had sold over 22,000 lowers in the past few years. They used to have Aero Precision lowers but last time I was there they did not. Both the safe/fire and picto lowers were from Schneider at that point. I bought a picto. The one I bought before that was an Aero. They definitely move a lot of product. I'm not generally a fan of DPMS but I am running one of their LPKs in my SBR and haven't had any problems. The trigger on my 6.8 (PSA LPK) is better but other than that I can't tell a difference.

Based on the S/N on my lowers they are LW Schneider. Good lowers. For the $49 I paid for them, great lowers. For the price, especially, the LPKs are great as well.
