I'm looking for something that might not exist.

I'm looking for a triple mag pouch that holds the mags sideways, not flat against the body. I've got one, but it closes at the top, and I'm looking for something open.

I'm relatively small and don't have room for lots of stuff on my belt, so this would be perfect as they don't take up a lot of space.

If I could find a pistol mag holder that does the same thing, that would be great, but I've never seen anything like that.

Might have to start eating more to create more space. :)

Aside from cutting the top off, cheaperthandirt was selling a "SAW" mag pouch that held six mags. I wasn't able to get one before they sold out. They had some similar AK and HKG3 mag pouches.

I most cases, I would think you would want a flap cover to keep them in and dirt/stuff out.

Yeah, I have one like the ones with the grenade pouches, but without the grenade pouches, :))) that's why I had the idea.

I'd like something in kydexish kind of thing that has them situated the same way..but without the flap. Usually the flap is a good thing but I'm using these for matches and so its not really necessary as long as they are secure.

I would think either custom kydex or cut the flap off of the old style mag pouch.

Spec Ops pouches work like you want.

You will want the medium pouches for three magazines and I would recommend some Magpuls to keep them from rattling and make removal from the pouch easier.
They should still have these even though I don't see them on their site, if not try Brownells http://www.brownells.com HTH

Barb why don't you just stack 2 of my double pouches on top of each other? I need some for my AR rig anyways so it's not like I won't be able to sell them if you don't like them.

Hmm..I'm not seeing the spec ops one that lines them up sideways.

John, which ones? I can't remember what you were wearing Saturday.

Something that holds 3 would be ideal..maybe Andy can make me something?

Brownells numbers for Spec Ops medium cargo/utility/magazine pouches.

100-000-713 medium black

100-000-714 medium green HTH

Well I had the AK pouches, with the flaps on them. Those are kind of bulky. But the shingles we have a nice. We have triples, and doubles. 2 doubles stacked on top of each other only take up 2 mag widths on your belt. Then you could put MOLLE pistol pouches on the front of the shingles, and still only take up 2 AR mag widths on your belt.

Tony had our pouches on. Don't know if you got to see them or not?

You could just get a triple M4 mag pouch from Tactical Tailor, tuck the covering flap into the pouch, and rely on the shock cord for retention.
