I have a really dumb question. How do I get the buffer spring out of an AR15 rifle stock to replace it?

remove upper, press the retaining plunger and it will shoot right out

As above... there is a small little pin the sticks up, use your thumb, or a flathead screwdriver, and it will pull/pop out.

Also, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. ;-)

Ok thank you. I figured it was threaded... :/. Spring replaced! Not using my thumb... I know how fast that spring will uncompress

Just hold onto the buffer when you press it down, it'll be fine. Did it all the time at Basic.
